Vanity Fair - the style issue

We can't wait to see what else Michael Roberts has come up with for this issue of Vanity Fair. Kate Moss is looking good - predictably. Isn't she also supposed to be on the cover of Pop and Vogue UK this September?

Bravo, Mr. Roberts. This issue is gonna sell like ecstasy in Ibiza.

Fashion Babylon & Its Anonymous

Toss your trashy chicklit novels and gather round for Fashion Babylon. Better yet make it your essential summer read. You will not want to put it down once you start anyway. The Anonymous co-writing the book did a great job of re-telling all the recent industry anecdotes and gossip: about how really powerful Style.com is, the mark-ups at the stores, Stella McCartney's vegan bag fad, insane budgets of buyers from Moscow, about how fast Topshop copies the catwalk trends, about teen models on Accutane, the coke and Moet-fueled fashion week parties, and the bitchy attitude of Sasha Pivovarova. And I'm just on page 56 out of 330 here.

The Devil Wears Prada is like My Pet Goat compared to THIS expose.

The only complaint is that the book takes almost two weeks to ship from UK. But if you can figure out who the Anonymous are do let us know. The spirit of the narration does feel very similar to our favorite 10 magazine. Hmm...

Remember the old skull cliche ?

Even the NY Times Styles section now reports that the skulls are over. In F.A.D calendar they were finished by April. Snap.

Something old and something PVC

Speaking of collector's items, the black Givenchy dress Audrey Hepburn wore in the opening scenes of Breakfast at Tiffany's is going up for auction in December. The opening bid is $130 thousand. But if you're not into 1960's vintage then check out the new Alexander McQueen diffusion line, especially this bad-ass coat.

Sexxxy Time

A beautiful new English magazine has just arrived to newsstands near us. If you like Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin you will LOVE Issue One. The magazine has so much great photography we had to immediately cut it up and scan it for myspace wallpaper. In retrospect that was a mistake since it's most likely one of those collectors items they sell on Ebay for crazy dollars. KINKY MAG ISSUE ONE
We also found out what coprophilia means. Very educational publication...

Teen Vogue: Fall Shopping Ideas

We seriously think that Marc by Marc team created these wide-leg suspender jeans as a joke. And they did not let Teen Vogue in on it. Wide leg is new and refreshing after seasons of skinny and boot-cut but we'd stick with the trouser version -- as in Diane von Furstenberg rather than Marc by Marc. The grunge trend pushed on us by all the mags is becoming quite forceful.

F.A.D. Myspace is heating up

Remember about all the good things happening on F.A.D. Myspace? Don't forget to add us to your friends!

Who the HELL buys FALL clothes in July? We Do!

It's a 100F in the city and all the stores are hanging up the new fall lines. Before you knew it we'd actually bought a sweater last week and now we need to know if we're abnormal. Are we the only people who buy Fall clothes in July? You tell us!
DO YOU BUY FALL CLOTHES IN JULY?
YES! If you don't buy them now, come September and October whatever inventory is left is all picked over and ratty looking.
NO! Now is the time to buy leftover summer clothes at drastically reduced prices and look at what's coming up for fall

Beachin' in style

We need no excuse to post a random picture of the ever perky Jessica Stam in a bathing suit but we actually saw an almost identical black & white piece today at Screaming Mimi's. If you go, don't forget to say hi to Michael.

Dreaming of Eva

The vision of Eva Herzigova in this dress must have left an unerasable imprint in our mind because last night we've actually had a dream about it. No joke. We have no idea what dreaming of Eva Herzigova might mean but we take it as a sign to finally stop wearing empire and muumuu dresses. So that's our advice. Thank us later.

Project Runway Party!

Project Runway 3 starts today! And in honor of that we found a dishy interview with Tim Gunn for you to read. Here's what he says about everyone's favorite Daniel Vosovic: “My darling little Dan has become a terrible diva. And it’s really unattractive. … He’s been offered several jobs. He’s turned down everything. They’re not good enough for him.”

Live a little. Or a Lot.

F.A.D.'s favorite Mert & Marcus' fall accessories editorial in August W wouldn't be the feast that it is without the custom made latex stockings and garters courtesy of House of Harlot. The good old London fetish store has claimed the editorial exposure a million shops would literally kill for. Besides, unlike the furry Louis Vuitton Murakami bag you can have those stockings for only $117 - a sweet deal, considering that the $3000 Murakami bag is almost equally disposable...

"Young London" by Testino

We are thrilled that Vogue UK has finally run out of obscure British celebrities to photograph in editorials. Instead Mario Testino has captured London's youth: "Fifteen-year-old Tamara grew tired of the London club scene when she turned 12". How charming. They should just rename Vogue UK as Nylon and go crazy with all the adolescent stuff. Anna Wintour would have a stroke.

Dong Dji and Zhou Xun for Miu Miu

The highly anticipated Fall 2007 campaign is now up on miumiu.com. Dong Dji and Zhou Xun make even the big furry sleeves look desirable, nevermind the absolute must-have ribbed gloves.

The Fashion Tarot

Imagine you're a world famous supermodel who just shot and got paid seven digits for a few blue chip advertising campaigns. So, the first thing you do is you come out wearing the black loose-fitting streamlined trousers. This is a very significant development for the fashion obsessed world. It's like Mars has moved into the eighth house -- it means adrogyny is going to be huge for fall. Mark our words. In other news, Olsen twins are still seen in grey Sass & Bide drainpipes and leggings. So if you haven't bought into these fads yet then don't bother. They are quickly getting old.

If Miranda Priestly alone is not enough...

Ann Hathaway looks so organic in Chanel. And you have to respect people who look good in Chanel. Not everyone does, you know...
Have you seen the movie yet?
