Wall Street Journal stirs up the "Skinny Debate"

Looks like everyone has seen the article in WSJ about the good ol' "skinny debate" by now. This time le scandale has surrounded the 17-year old Teen Vogue sensation Ali Michael who "got fat" (gained 5 pounds) and as a result was disqualified from walking the Paris shows by some cruel French fashion designers.

Miuccia graces Myspace?

Faran from Nylon Magazine brings to our attention that Miuccia Prada now has her own personal Myspace page. First reaction: the Italian Godmother of all fashion fooling around on online networking sites? Is this for real?! And yet it's possible -- especially now after a Suzy Menkes expose ran in the International Herald Tribune on how fashion designers have zero Internet skills. Apparently everyone's favorite Alber Elbaz and Nicolas Ghesquière don't know how to use Internet and are proud of it.

It's not unusual for people who are talented in one area to be completely backwards in other areas but, damn, don't admit it. Anyway, as a matter of damage control all famous fashion designers should be getting on Facebook right now and naming bags after fashion's #1 Internet fairy Bryan Boy. Marc Jacobs did it the other week... it's true.

It is no secret that fashion designers constantly borrow and steal each other's ideas but in Milan it all seems to have finally come a full-circle... It just occurred to us that Prada's shaggy coats from last year somehow ended up on this season's Dolce & Gabbana babushkas:

Caroline likes her almonds toasted

Guess who we just ran into at Whole Foods on the Bowery? Anna Wintour's favorite pet Brazilian Caroline Trentini! She wore a black parka, grey sweatpants, shopped in the mixed nuts section and still looked like a million bucks. Whatever it is, walnuts, cashews (or more likely salicylic peels) she still looks really glowy and cute. (Not cute enough to be in Milan or Paris right now, apparently, but still better than most regular humans.)

It's a mystery really: girl's flat as a flounder, has world's stumpiest legs and yet looks absolutely blockbuster on the beach. In fact we've been wanting to live out the esoteric beach babe fantasy ever since we saw Sasha a year ago -- in piled on Chanel, Marni and Vuitton (we love Karl Templer). Here we have Sasha in March 08 Vogue Paris in style of none other than the 80's cartoon Jem and the Holograms (what an excuse to wear all things pink!). But aside from pink, doesn't our Russian look amazing?

And she's slick enough to let her makeup take at least 10 years off her real age.
